Bat Families
Bats are mammals which means they give live birth, nurse their young and have fur. Bat babies are called pups.. Bats live together in colonies. Mother bats group together to create a nursery before their babies are born. The temperature in the nursery can reach over 100 degrees.
Bat Myths
* Bats are not really blind! They have excellent vision.
* Bats have no interest in making a nest in human hair! They prefer caves!
*Bats are not dirty animals. They spend lots of time grooming themselves.
* Bats are not flying rodents! They are so different scientists have placed them in their own order: Chiroptera.
*Bats do not have evil powers!

All About Bats!
There are over 1100 different species of bats divided into two main groups: Mega-bats and Micro-bats. Meg-bats are called fruit bats or flying foxes. They rely on their excellent vision for hunting. Micro-bats, however, use echolocation to navigate and hunt for prey.
